Old Horn To Discuss Intertribal Warfare at LBHC Library

Dale Old Horn will be presenting on Crow intertribal warfare at noon on Thursday, Jan. 16 in the Little Big Horn College Library Programs Room.

Dale is an elder and lifelong resident of the Black Lodge District. He is also Professor Emeritus (retired) of Crow and Native American Studies at Little Big Horn College, He was previously department head of Native American Studies at Eastern Montana College, now Montana State University Billings.

Some of the topics covered can include the causes of, reasons for and nature of intertribal warfare, how the war parties were composed, how many warriors were involved, how they would prepare both physically and spiritually, parties on foot and horseback, weapons that they used, the various categories of coups and how they were ranked, and finally, some accounts of specific battles with the other tribes/stories of the fights.
